Version 1.03 for DEC VAXmate

Version 1.03 for DEC VAXmate

<< Go back

VAXmate was the successor of the Rainbow 100 and DEC's first trully PC-compatible computer. This release comes on three 5.25" 1.2MB floppy disks and is dated 23rd January 1987. The first disk includes DEC's VT240 terminal application for MS-DOS, the core system files of a pre-installed copy of Windows, and the contents of the Utility installation disk. The second disk contains most of the core system files for installation and PIF files, while the third disk contains applications and fonts.

Bootscreen features a DEC logo instead of the Microsoft one, and says:
MS-Windows for VAXmate Version 1.03.04 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation, 1985. All Rights Reserved. Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation, 1986. All Rights Reserved. Microsoft and MS-Windows are trademarks of Microsoft Corp. VAXmate and the Digital logo are trademarks of Digital Equipment Corporation.

Though the bootscreen says this is version 1.03.04, setup claims it's 1.03.08. It would seem DEC forgot to update the bootscreen when they made the new revision.
