MCGA was a crippled version of VGA, used exclusively in some low-end PS/2 models, such as the model 30, and the Epson Equity Ie. It is essentially the same as VGA, minus the EGA compatibility and high-resolution color VGA mode.

The driver for Windows 1.0 was made by IBM (IBMPS230.DRV) and included with their OEM release of version 1.04 from 1987, shortly after the introduction of the first PS/2 models. It uses the high-resolution monochrome mode of 640x480.
